How To Transition An Outfit From Spring Through Winter

May 02, 2024

Transitioning an outfit to wear it for all four seasons is the BEST way to get the most value for your money. I love wearing versatile clothing that can be worn in many different ways. So, today I’m showing you how to transition an outfit from spring through winter.

This is not the first time I’ve written about this subject, and it probably won’t be the last. I love helping you get the most wear from your clothing, and wearing your clothing for multiple seasons is an easy transition.

Look how light and airy this outfit looks! I can’t wait to wear this next Fall! The colors of the tiered dress are why I got the inspiration to do a how-to transition an outfit from spring through winter post. You have a wide variety of colors that can be worn with all four seasons.

I love the light baby pink 3/4 Sleeve Open Front Cardigan Jacket! I’ve always thought blondes looked fabulous in pink, but I usually wear bright and vivid pink.

The Quilted Crossbody Bag in sand is one I’ve carried a lot this year. I like it so much that I also bought it in black and hot pink. It’s a great size for taking shopping, out to lunch, or even on date night. It is big enough for a wallet, phone, lipstick, etc., and that’s all I need for a quick outing.

You’ve also seen me wearing these Clear Two Strap Wedge shoes a lot this year. They are a perfect neutral, so they go with everything. They are surprisingly comfortable, so I can wear them for long periods without my feet hurting. You can also see the colors of this dress great in this photo.

For summer, I wouldn’t have to transition the dress at all. The only reason I might add something to the dress is if I wanted to cover my upper arms. I could easily add a lightweight cardigan or the Rose Pink Long Blazer I wore in my Pretty In Pink- How To Wear Barbiecore Over 50 post.

The square-neck floral dress I’m wearing is limited to only a few sizes. But the Floral V-Neck Tiered Maxi Dress is the same print, and I like it even better. I wish I had seen that dress first because I can’t justify buying the same print in a different style.

This adorable Woven Flower Bucket Bag is too cute! I carried it with me when I took photos with the family in a lavender field, and everyone loved it. It’s a smaller bag, and I probably won’t carry it much, but I will love it when I do.

This Stretch Denim Jacket has been one of my favorite purchases, and it is one that I wear a LOT!

This jacket has just enough stretch and is lightweight enough to be worn any season. I’m sure it would be too hot for those living in the country’s hottest parts, but it works great for me.

I just ordered the jacket in Olive, and I hope the color is one I like. There are so many shades of olive, and I don’t like all of them. Some can be too green, too yellow, or too brown. It looks great on the website, but I guess I’ll have to wait and see how it turns out.

The Franco Sarto Wedge Pumps are a pair I bought last year. I take these shoes with me when I’m doing a store try-on haul since they go with everything.

I’ve got Fall on the brain, so I added two fall looks. Even though most of the country has been under a heat wave, it has been cool where I live. Adding this Camel Blazer to the floral dress is a perfect way to transition an outfit from spring through winter. The blazer picks up on the beige tones in the dress. The blazer is a nice weight and has just enough stretch to it. It is also available in navy and black, which are great classic colors.

Here is the view from the back.

Finally, let’s transition this dress for winter. In winter, I like to layer my clothing to be warm outside but not burn up inside.

Adding a warm cardigan is the perfect solution. I can stay toasty warm while indoors and add something heavier when I need to go outside. The exact cardigan I’m wearing is sold out, but this one is very Similar and would give the same look.

This classic Ralph Lauren Double Breasted Wool Blend Coat is a last year’s purchase. A classic coat like this is one that can be worn for years, so it is a good investment piece. Inventory isn’t great for this coat, so I’m going to link to some other similar ones. I like camel coats, but this coat also is available (in limited sizes) in black and gray.

I love a long coat like this in the winter; it looks great with jeans as well as dresses. It is classy and chic looking!!!

I hope you enjoyed this how to transition an outfit from spring through winter post. Which look is your favorite???
