The Leatherology Meadow Crossbody Bag Review: Why We Love It

Available in four different sizes and various pretty colors—all under $250—this is a purse you'll have in heavy rotation for years to come.

Here at T&C, we pride ourselves on our discerning eye for quality. With Tried & True, our editors will give you an inside look at the pieces they simply cannot live without.

Don't get me wrong: I have nothing against the humble tote—in fact, I've previously raved about my love for the cult-favorite Longchamp Le Pliage. But when it comes to workhorse styles that can be carried absolutely everywhere and at anytime, the crossbody bag takes the cake. My go-to, you ask? Leatherology's Meadow Bag, of course.

Before I get into greater detail, let me preface this by saying I'm a big Leatherology fan. I own a few other things from the brand and you can tell the products are of the utmost highest quality right out of the box. The leather is oh-so-supple yet durable, and most of the accessories are sold at a reasonable price range that won't break the bank. I also appreciate the minimalist aesthetic, various color options, and how shoppers can get their style of choice personalized with their initials.

But the Meadow Bag, in particular? That's a style you don't want to miss out on. It comes in four different sizes, all of which are extremely spacious, and has a price point between $120-$240. Not bad, right? I have the largest one, which is a satchel-crossbody hybrid that you can wear across your torso the traditional way, sling over your shoulder, or carry by the top handle. At a bit over 10-inches wide and 7-inches long, the purse has massive compartment that can truly fit all your daily belongings with extra room to spare. Just to give you an idea of how roomy this thing is: I can often fit a big paperback book inside in addition to my usual card case, iPhone, headphones, keys, and lip balm.

Then there's the exterior frontal pocket, which is everything to me. The convenience of having a place to slip your MetroCard or smaller essentials without having to fuss around in the main space? It doesn't get easier than that.

Now I'm sure you're also wondering about the weight? Light as a feather. No, seriously—no matter how much I pack inside, the bag never feels heavy or digs into my shoulder. And because of this, I find it's the perfect style when I am hopping around town, running errands.

It's worth noting that the the Meadow Satchel is sold with a non-adjustable strap that falls on the shorter side. It definitely resembles a sling, but it still serves its purpose as a crossbody and is comfortable to wear. But if you prefer your crossbody to sit at your waist, you can purchase a longer strap for a few extra bucks or you can just buy the smaller bag versions.

Specs aside, the crossbody was truly made for every occasion. Whether you're meeting girlfriends for brunch, taking a walking around the neighborhood, traveling abroad, or going on a dinner date, this is the kind of bag you can reach for and take everywhere without skipping a beat. And the fact that it's affordable, customizable, and comes in tons of pretty hues as I mentioned before? If that isn't a great gift idea, I'm not sure what is!
